GASHORA, September 16, 2011

“Leadership is not about position, but it is about action”, the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Mrs Inyumba Aloisea has said.

The call was made while officially closing the one week long leadership development training for vice mayors in charge of social affairs, that took place at La Palisse Hotel in Gashora, Bugesera District.

The training ended on a high note about the role of leadership in the success or failure of organizations.

While briefing the trainees before their departure at MINALOC head offices, the Minister of Local Government had cautioned them on the role of discipline in the performance of organizations.

“Discipline is key to success”, Minister James MUSONI had said.

While opening the leadership development training at Gashora, on Monday, September 12, the Minister of Public Service and Labor, Mr Anastase MUREKEZI, said that, “leaders have no time to wait, but to do”.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Friday, September 16, Minister Inyumba said that, “leadership is the key to success”.

According to the Minister, “people determine the potential; relationships determine the morale; structure determines the size; vision determines the direction but leadership determines the success of the change program, team or organization”.

Alice UWERA, who spoke on behalf of the trainees, commended the training itself and the trainers; trainees also have pledged to share their knowledge and to deliver as ONE TEAM.

“We are no longer Rwandans; but One Rwanda and One Rwandan”, trainees said.

The trainees have showed that, the training inculcated into them the sense of corporate and social responsibility. They mobilized two modern cows to be given to the vulnerable people of Bugesera, as a way to support the President’s initiative known as “Girinka” program.

Minister Inyumba Aloisea commended and supported that initiative, and contributed an additional one.

“I am very happy to be part of the local government family, especially the social affairs sector; I had an opportunity to serve there in different capacities. Leadership is only about action, and together we can achieve more than what we have done”, Minister Inyumba noted.
