CITY OF KIGALI: NYAMULINDA PASCAL IS THE NEW CITY MAYOR

Mr Nyamulinda Pascal is the new Mayor of the City of Kigali. He replaced Mrs Mukaruliza Monique who was appointed as Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Zambia.
The new Mayor was elected today by a college of 196 councilors from all sectors council bureau, districts and City Council, as provided by the law.
Mayor Nyamulinda Pascal defeated his rival, Mrs UMUHOZA Aurole, with 161 against 35 votes cast. He pledged to promote team work for an effective citizen centered service delivery.
After the swearing-in, the Minister of Local Government, Kaboneka Francis, urged the new Mayor to uphold values of humility and team work for effective delivery.
The Minister encouraged him to build on his accumulated positive experience in public affairs management, and to ensure security, proper enforcement of Kigali City master plan, upgrade of roads infrastructure, cleanliness and to remain a citizen-centered leader.
“In whatever you do, you should carry the citizen within your heart. Love your people and deliver in the interest of the citizens. As you shall be delivering to your mandate, you are assured of the Government support”, Minister Kaboneka said.
Aged 53, Nyamulinda Pascal is a seasoned manager and leader: he has been at the helm of the National Identification Agency (previously “Project”) since its inception in 2007, and he served as a diplomat since 2002. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Public Affairs and Master’s degree in Project Management.
