INTORE SHOULD BE AGENTS OF CHANGE- Minister KABONEKA

September 22, 2017

The Minister of Local Government, Francis Kaboneka, visited yesterday, Nkumba Ubutore Development Center in Burera district, and he urged all Intore to become agents of transformation in their communities.

The remarks were made during the Minister’s closing address of a four days retreat for about two hundred trainers and facilitators of National Itorero Commission from across the country.

Participants reflected on their past commitments and performance, where they generally performed “poorly”, despite isolated success stories.

Minister Kaboneka challenged them on community issues, especially hygiene and sanitation, malnutrition, drug abuse and family conflicts, which don’t require budget to be dealt with.

“What we need more is not training but transformation”, Minister Kaboneka said.

He hastened to add that; “it is better to have non-trained citizens than having a failed Intore”.

Minister Kaboneka urged all participants to move from “slogans” to concrete actions”.

“This is time for transformation, and Intore should be critical agents of change in their community”, he insisted.

“The critical role of Intore is mindset change which leads to real change in transformation and development. The country can’t develop unless Intore play a central role”, he said.
