Nyamagabe: Umuganda can solve some social problems – Dr Mukabaramba

On Saturday the 25th November 2017, the Minister of State for Social Protection and affairs Dr. Mukabaramba Alvera joined the residents of Kigeme Cell in Gasaka Sector to carry out monthly Umuganda community work that consisted of completing the construction of six toilets for vulnerable households of the community.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Mukabaramba welcome their courage which marks their patriotism, collaboration, culture and love. She called upon them to use the same courage to support community members who still have social problems.

Dr. Mukabaramba reminded: “Umuganda is our culture and it contains solutions to some of the problems we have. If you have neighbors who are struggling with social problems, why not using umuganda? With the same strength, we can solve the problems of lack of toilets in some houses and other problems which can be solved by collective force like this.”

On the same day evening, the Minister of State officially opened a two-day retreat attended by Nyamagabe executive committee members, advisory council members and district stuff members while on previous day she had held a meeting with vice mayors and directors for social affairs and officers in charge of social affairs on sector level from all districts of Southern Province to discuss the situation of social affairs in the province where they came up with solutions and recommendations vis-à-vis the existing social problems.
