NEW BELGIAN AMBASSADOR TO RWANDA PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO MINISTER KABONEKA


Today, 1st December 2017, the Minister of Local Government Hon. Kaboneka Francis received the new Ambassador of the Embassy of the Belgian Kingdom to Rwanda H.E Benoit Ryelandt, who had paid a courtesy visit to introduce himself to Minister Kaboneka as Embassy works closely with the Ministry in the implementation of decentralisation policy and local economic development initiatives at local level.  

On behalf of the Government of Rwanda, Minister Kaboneka expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Belgium for supporting Rwanda’s development in different domains but most specifically for current socio-economic programmes including local economic development projects, local government decentralization and capacity building and service delivery among others.

The new Ambassador highlighted his commitment to strengthen the existing cooperation by enhancing collaboration and partnership for the mutual benefit of both States. The Ambassador said they have to comply with the National Strategy of Transformation and Vision 2050 aspirations. Their focus will be on economic development through private sector development.

Currently different local economic development projects are financially and technically supported by Belgium through Belgium Technical Cooperation. They include 136 infrastructure projects and local competitiveness facility grant programme among others.
