NYAMASHEKE UNDERGOES IMIHIGO ASSESSMENT
June 21, 2012
Nyamasheke district officials and staff consistently presented their achievements for the fiscal year 2011-2012 which ends on June 30. Presentations and crosschecking questions were conducted before a panel of specialists from different ministries and institutions, including the Office of the Presented.
The ongoing two day evaluation which kicked off on June 13, is in line with the countrywide national and regular assessments, aiming at promoting accountability and good governance.
The objective of this assessment is to look into the district achievement compared to the performance contracts signed with the President of the Republic on July 26, 2011.
Despite disasters encountered following heavy rains that prevailed countrywide in the beginning of this year, the district performed well and in most cases, went beyond targets.
District councilors, local leaders, Joint Action Development Forum members and members of the district security committee attended to the evaluation, which was conducted in a public session at the district head offices, in Kagano sector.
Imihigo were introduced in local governments in 2006, in order to expedite the achievement of the targets set in Vision 2020, especially in reducing poverty and strengthening good governance.
