Tuesday, 26 March 2019, the Minister of Local Government, Prof Shyaka Anastase together with the Minister of State for social affairs, Dr. Alvera Mukabaramba received in his office, the Speaker of Parliament of Sierra Leone, Rt Hon Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu and his delegation.
The purpose of their visit was to learn from Rwanda’s implementation of decentralisation policy and social protection programs – both sectors monitored by the ministry.
Minister Shyaka briefed them on how Rwanda's decentralization is all about meaningful citizen's participation; efficiency in service delivery and transformation of communities and their lives.
"The drive of our transformation is based on choices, we choose unity, security centered on citizen, and accountability." He said
Rt Hon Dr. Abass said they are in Rwanda to learn from its experiences in many areas, including but not limited to decentralization and how it leads to citizen's transformation.
