Kigali, 1 April 2019, the Minister of Local Government Prof. Shyaka Anastase met with the leadership of the City of Kigali including members of District Executive Committees and Sector Executive Secretaries, to discuss a number of issues that are impeding the rapid transformation of the city.
In his remarks, Minister Shyaka hailed the efforts the local leaders in keeping the city clean, secure and performing well in service delivery. However, he also highlighted a number of issues including rapid growing of high risk zones, poor hygiene in some areas that need special intervention for improvement.
“Looking at the Kigali we have today, you realise that we still have a long way to reach the Kigali we want. Kigali as the capital city and the gate of our country, must address all these issues. We need hygiene in every corner of the city.”
Minister Shyaka told the leaders of the city of Kigali to work closely with the people as the only sustainable way to solve all issues.
The leadership of the City of Kigali pledged to work with the citizens to upgrade the level of hygiene of Kigali which is globally recognized for its cleanliness.
