Musanze - 28 May 2019, the Minister of State for Social Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government Dr. Mukabaramba Alvera encouraged ex-members of Armed Groups to peacefully integrate community, work hard and live in harmony within their respective communities and families.

The Minister of State made the remark in her speech at discharge ceremony of 569 former members of Armed Groups mainly FDLR after successfully completing 5 months of pre-discharge rehabilitation courses at Mutobo Rehabilitation Center managed by Rwanda Demobilization and Rehabilitation Commission (RDRC).

Dr. Mukabaramba recommended noticeable change the ex-combatants made after only five months of training; she called upon them to integrate socially but also fearlessly participate in development activities.

“Be good and exemplary citizens; keep positive energy you manifested today, work hard to prosper. You must also contribute to maintaining security and keeping order within communities, as ex-soldiers you are very familiar with ensuring security.” She said.

RDRC provides basic needs to the ex-combatants at every discharge so as to facilitate their start-up step in society. Besides financial means, the commission also provides practical skills for business operation and other economic projects.
