On Saturday, the minister for Local Government Prof. Shyaka Anastase officiated the closing ceremony of the Kivu Belt Festival an initiative that intends to attract investors and tourists to Nyamasheke District.
Kivu Belt Festival that took place between 17th and 19th of October, was an opportunity to promote the existing investment and tourism opportunities in Nyamasheke District.
Minister Shyaka who officiated the closing ceremony of this festival, stated that it is a pity for a district like Nyamasheke that has a lot of potentialities to be ranked the poorest district in the country.
“This district according to our data is the poorest, on another hand is gifted with a lot of potentialities that lay from tourism, Agriculture and many more. This initiative has come to remain for a long time, and to make a tangible impact on local economic development and National Development.” Minister Shyaka said
The minister also expressed that the central Government is ready to support the Western Province in order to scale up this initiative to all districts linked to lake Kivu.
“We are looking forward to it to have a tangible impact on socio-economic transformation in Nyamasheke and Western Province in the next few years.” Minister Shyaka reiterated.
During Kivu Belt Festival 2019, many activities took place, including meetings, water sports competition, expo, entertainment and networking dinner.
