The District Administrative Security Support Organ (DASSO) is a community-based security initiative established to assist local authorities in maintaining public order and promoting socio-economic development across Rwanda's districts.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Policing: Collaborate with local residents to prevent and respond to crimes.
Support Local Authorities: Aid district officials in implementing security measures and public policies.
Promote Social Well-being: Address issues like school dropout, child labor, and public health concerns.
Environmental Protection: Assist in safeguarding public infrastructure and promoting sanitation.
Training & Capacity Building:
DASSO personnel undergo comprehensive training at Police Training School Gishari, covering areas such as defensive tactics, first aid, community policing, and legal procedures. Regular refresher courses are also conducted to enhance skills and reinforce ethical standards.
Almost every year new DASSO officers graduate to strengthen security efforts in districts. Ongoing emphasis on professionalism, integrity, and citizen engagement to foster trust and effective service delivery.
Impact:
DASSO plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between security institutions and local communities, contributing to Rwanda's overall development and stability.
