Igisoro, a game changer for Umurenge Kagame Cup
For the first time, Rwanda’s traditional board game known as igisoro was introduce into Umurenge Kagame Cup competition for 2023. Igisoro draw attention of adults than young Rwandans who rather focused on modern games.
After passionate knock-out matches, on the 25 June, finalists from across the country met in Huye District to fight for the national positions. The winner emerged as Immaculée Dusabemariya from Bugesera who won the trophy without losing a single match in women category, and Shukuru Hassan from Rusizi in men category.
The competition was concluded after three months of knockouts from Sector level to National level in different disciplines including jumping, football, athletics, volleyball, basketball.
Since 2006 Umurenge Kagame Cup competition has been an important platform for communities to exhibit talents and enhance good governance and social cohesion.
