MINALOC and Partners Convene retreat to align priorities across Social Protection and Governance Sectors

Today, the Social Protection and Governance & Decentralisation Sectors convened a one-day retreat in Kigali under the theme “Align and Advance.” The retreat aimed to strengthen inter-sectoral collaboration, review implementation progress, identify actionable cross-sectoral synergies, and develop practical solutions to accelerate the achievement of sector targets.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Minister Dominique Habimana reaffirmed Rwanda’s conviction that sustainable development is anchored in strong partnerships and effective collaboration that deliver impact beyond projects.

Reflecting on this partnership, the Minister stated: “Throughout this process, Development Partners and other stakeholders have played an instrumental role by providing technical expertise, policy insights, financing, and implementation support that have enriched both the design and delivery of our national development agenda.”

He underscored that the journey toward inclusive and sustainable development remains ongoing, and highlighted the importance of platforms such as this retreat in strengthening coordination and collective action.

“It is by responding to the needs of our people, delivering tangible results, and maintaining public trust that we lay the foundation for sustainable progress and for meaningful partnerships with all stakeholders,” he added.

The UK High Commissioner to Rwanda, H.E. Alison Thorpe, and the Swiss Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E. Gilles Cerutti, commended the vital role of development partners in advancing national programmes that place citizens at the center of development efforts. They reaffirmed their respective countries’ commitment to supporting Rwanda’s aspirations for inclusive and sustainable development.
