Minister Habimana visits Gakenke, urges citizens to preserve strong families

In the morning, Minister Habimana visited several ongoing and operational projects, including the renovation of Muhondo Health Post, Dukundekawa Musasa Coffee Cooperative, and COMIKAGI Cooperative, which processes cassiterite and tantalite minerals.

The Minister acknowledged the critical role these cooperatives play in lifting citizens out of poverty and contributing to national development. He encouraged them to enhance productivity and improve quality standards in order to compete effectively on international markets.

In the afternoon, Minister Habimana attended a community assembly in Ruli Sector, where he engaged with residents on issues related to unity, security, and the importance of building and preserving strong families.

He emphasised that a strong family ensures the well-being of its members by maintaining good health through regular contributions to Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI), commonly known as Mutuelle de Santé, and by prioritising children’s education, among other responsibilities.

Speaking on recent CBHI reforms, he noted that the changes were introduced to strengthen the system’s financial sustainability and ensure continued access to quality healthcare services for all members.

Minister Habimana also commended the residents of Ruli Sector for their strong unity, highlighting that no cases of genocide ideology have been recorded in the area over the past five years. He further noted that Ruli ranks among the sectors with the lowest poverty levels in Gakenke District.
