MINALOC inducts newly elected local leaders
From 18 December 2023, a three day induction training was conducted in Nkumba, Burera to introduce newly elected councilors to their new role and responsibility in ten districts.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Local Government Musabyimana Jean Claude who requested the new councilors and the members of executive committees from the districts which conducted the elections to preserve rwandan unity before any priority.
The induction training was attended by the new councilors and the members of executive committees from nine districts namely Burera, Gakenke, Karongi, Musanze, Nyamasheke, Rubavu, Rutsiro, Rwamagana and Rulindo.
On December 7, 2023, six disticts elected new mayors: Mr. Claudien Nsengimana (Musanze), Ms. Soline Mukamana (Burera), Ms. Vestine Mukandayisenga (Gakenke), Mr. Narcisse Mupenzi (Nyamasheke), Ms. Valentine Mukase (Karongi), Mr. Prosper Mulindwa (Rubavu) and Ms. Dative Kayitesi (Rutsiro).
Three districts elected new vice mayors in charge of economic development: Mr. Uwizeyimana Emmanuel (Rutsiro), Ms. Uwanyirigira Clarisse (Musanze) and Kagabo Rwamunono Richards (Rwamagana).
Two districts elected new vice mayors in charge of social affairs: Theobald Kayiranga (Musanze) and Umuganwa Marie Chantal (Rutsiro), while Rulindo elected only councilor to fill the district council.
