RUGERERO IDP MODEL VILLAGE INAUGURATED AS RWANDA MARKS 29TH LIBERATION DAY CELEBRATION

As Rwanda celebrates 29th Anniversary of liberation, Rugerero Integrated Development Project Model Village was inaugurated in Rubavu District on the same occasion, in a national ceremony presided over by Rt Hon Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente.

The Model village valued at 18.4 bn was constructed by Rwanda Defence Force in partnership with other Government Institutions and handed over to 110 families most of them the victims of recent flood disaster which swept aways their homes and others who were on the scheme of social protection for vulnerable.

The Model Village consists of residential houses, Early Child Development (ECD) school, a mini-market, Agakiriro, a health post and a poultry shed. The facility also has tarmac roads, electricity and water. 

While addressing residents, Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente first expressed solidarity to the local population who recently suffered from disasters that claimed lives of citizens and destroyed infrastructures in Rubavu District and other districts in Western and Northern provinces.  

Prime Minister said that Rwanda's achievements in the last 29 years were possible due to unity, good leadership and security the country has enjoyed, thanks to the leadership of HE President Paul Kagame. 

He emphasised that the real meaning of Liberation is to strive for development and encouraged the population to work hard and achieve more development.

The event was attended by Senior Government Officials including Ministers, Defence and security officials including the Senior Defence and security Advisor to the President, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector General of Police among others.
