SOUTH: NEW GOVERNOR GASANA TAKES THE OFFICE AFTER SENATE'S APPROVAL
Today the Minister of Local Government, Prof. SHYAKA Anastase chaired the handover ceremony between the outgoing governor, Mrs. Mureshyankwano Marie Rose and the new governor, Gasana Emmanuel of Southern Province.
The function that took place at Southern Province Office at Nyanza was attended by different officials from southern Province, following the morning decision of the Rwandan Senate to approve Gasana who was designated by the President of the Republic on 18th of October 2018.
In her speech, the outgoing Governor Mureshyankwano thanked the President of the Republic of Rwanda for the trust he had in her by designating her as governor - the position she has served since 2016.
Mrs. Mureshyankwano also acknowledged and appreciated the support she received from the various institutions, authorities, officials and people of Southern Province during the period of her administration.
The new Governor Mr GASANA Emmanuel, also expressed gratitude to the thanked the President of the Republic of Rwanda HE Paul Kagame for his appointment as Governor. He has sworn to serve with dedication. Governor Gasana requested the authorities in this province to make every effort to continue the country's mission and achieve the desired development of Rwanda.
The Minister of Local Government conveyed appreciation to the President of the Republic of Rwanda for designating a right and suitable governor to lead the Southern Province. He also thanked Mureshyankwano for her achievements during 2 years in office.
Minister Shyaka requested the local leaders of the Southern Province to continue to set up a certain administration built on better collaboration, integrity and a sense of complete responsibility.
In his address to district mayors, public and private institutions, Minister Shyaka highlighted the extent of human security problems including hygiene and malnutrition among children, which require special attention from these leaders.
He reminded them to reinforce the respect of laws and regulations governing the extraction of mines and quarries while avoiding the employment of children.
