Minister Gatabazi received World Vision Rwanda Interim National Director
On 12 August 2021, the Minister of Local Government Hon. Gatabazi Jean Marie Vianney received the new interim national director of World Vision-Rwanda Mme Pauline Okumu.
They discussed the status of the current partnership with the Ministry in different sectors especially social protection and local economic development interventions across beneficiary districts.
Minister Gatabazi Jmv commended the contribution of World Vision-Rwanda to the development of Rwanda especially in the Social Protection Sector and Local Economic Development.
“World Vision’s role over the years in contributing to the development of the social protection sector is visible in many ways such as creating access to education, health, clean water and livelihood to many vulnerable Rwandan through enabling livelihood programs & cash transfers.” Minister Gatabazi said
“I would like to reiterate that the Ministry of Local Government appreciate your contribution to the social protection sector and we are committed to keep the positive partnership which we hope will driver us in the right direction to achieving NSTI 1 targets & SDGs goals.” He added
On the other hand, Mme Pauline Okumu, the interim national director of World Vision-Rwanda lauded the good relationship between her instutition and the government of Rwanda.
“I would like to restate the commitment of World Vision to continue working alongside with the Government to achieve SDGs.” Mme Okumu said
Currently World Vision is implementing “Ultra Poor Graduation” project with a target of 50,000 households in 14 districts, which aims at investing in livelihood and resilience of families with regards to enhancing graduation from extreme poverty. Furthermore, it has been supporting households affected by COVID-19 situation in different districts.
