Minister Habimana Visits Development Projects in Western Province

The Minister of Local Government, Dominique Habimana, conducted a two-day working visit to the Western Province, where he inspected several key projects aimed at accelerating socio-economic development.

On Wednesday, 17th September, Minister Habimana, accompanied by the Minister of State, Marie Solange Kayisire, attended the Western Province Coordination Meeting, which brought together leaders from the sector to the provincial level. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration, enhance planning, and improve service delivery across the districts of the province. It also served to review progress on government programmes, address existing challenges, share best practices, and ensure that district-level initiatives align with national priorities.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Habimana commended local leaders for their dedication and urged them to raise the bar in tackling challenges that affect citizens' wellbeing.

“Teamwork and collaboration are key. We believe that with your experience, you have what it takes to find solutions to the problems citizens are facing, especially those related to wellbeing, service delivery, and the fight against corruption,” he said.

As part of his visit, Minister Habimana toured several development projects in Karongi and Rutsiro districts. These included the Ruganda Cross-Border Market in Karongi District, the ongoing construction of the Mushubati–Musasa–Mushonyi road near Lake Kivu, the Kivu Hills Medical Center, and the Rutsiro Tea Factory, among others.
