Minister Mugenzi joins Ruhango residents in #Kwibuka31
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the 31st commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi was held at Kabagari Genocide Memorial in Ruhango District, along with the burial of 13 more victims recently discovered.
Minister Patrice Mugenzi attended the commemoration alongside local residents. He consoled genocide survivors and assured them that the government remains committed to doing whatever it takes to protect and support them.
He urged citizens to reject genocide ideology, emphasizing that it was the root cause of the 1994 genocide.
"The government prioritizes good governance and a spirit of patriotism, ensuring equal rights for all Rwandans while avoiding anything that could divide us again," he said.
Iduhamahoro Rosette, a genocide survivor from Kabagari, gave a testimony about how the Interahamwe militia wiped out her entire family, leaving her as the sole survivor.
She also shared how rape was used as a weapon during the genocide, highlighting the brutal and inhumane nature of the atrocities.
Despite the painful memories, Iduhamahoro expressed gratitude to the RPA Inkotanyi soldiers who stopped the genocide and focused on building a united Rwanda under visionary leadership.
