Minister of State Kayisire calls on Karongi leaders to prioritize citizen’s welfare
On Sunday, February 16, 2025, State Minister Marie Solange Kayisire presided over a retreat for local leaders and district staff in Karongi, held at the district hall. The retreat focused on key governance priorities, including improving service delivery, fostering unity and reconciliation, promoting gender equality across all sectors, and enhancing the implementation of the National Strategy for Transformation (NST2).
Minister Kayisire reminded the leaders that their primary mission is to uplift the well-being of citizens.
"The nation is not just these beautiful hills surrounding Karongi; it is made up of its people. We are called to work together to improve their lives—that is when our goal will truly be achieved," she stated.
She also emphasized the importance of delivering services in a timely manner, noting that delays in service provision can have significant negative impacts on citizens.
The retreat concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing sectors, cells, villages, and individuals who excelled in Mutuelle de Santé contributions, participation in the Ejo Heza savings program, and efforts in hygiene and sanitation.
