More than 400 new DASSO Personnel pass out to reinforce security in Districts

On Thursday, 5 January 2023, the Minister of Local Government, Jean Claude Musabyimana officiated the pass-out ceremony of 416 District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) officers who graduated from Police Training School at Gishari, Rwamagana after nine weeks of basic trainings.

Minister Musabyimana recommended the new DASSO to stick to professionalism and moral values in order to successfully reinforce security which is beyond ordinary safety.

He said: “The development we have today relies on our security – this is why we understand its cost and we consider it priority. Ensuring security is beyond gunshot and brawl in neighborhood; you will be required to support district in ensuring quality service, solving citizens’ complaints, ridding school dropout, delinquency, child labor, lack of hygiene, vandalism of infrastructure among others.”

Minister argued the new DASSO to put citizens’ interests and security at the forefront of whatever they do in executing their duties.

The new DASSO Personnel will be operating in 16 Districts across the country joining. The training they received focused on courses that will help them to effectively fulfill their duties, they include use of weapons, defensive tactics, first aid, basic investigation as well as sharing information. They will be operating alongside current officers who have been operating since 2014 when DASSO was established.
