Governors of Eastern, Northern and Western Provinces enter the office

On March 22 and 23, 2021, the Minister of Local Government Hon. Gatabazi Jean Marie Vianney presided hand over ceremonies between the outgoing Governors of Eastern, Northern and Western Provinces – him included, and the incoming Governors.

Monday, March 22, 2021, Fred Mufulukye, the outgoing Governor of Eastern Province was the first to hand over to the incoming Governor CG Gasana K. Emmanuel, in a ceremony held at the Province Head Quarters in Rwamagana district.

Later in the afternoon, Hon. Gatabazi Jean Marie Vianney, now the Minister of Local Government handed over the office to the new Governor Mme Dancilla Nyirarugero, the ceremony took place at the Headquarters of Northern Province in Musanze district.

Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Hon. Gatabazi presided over the handover ceremony between the outgoing Governor of Western Province Mr. Alphonse Munyantwari and the incoming governor Mr. Habitegeko François.

In his key address at the above-mentioned events, Minister Gatabazi emphasized on quality and timely service delivery to citizens, completion of districts imihigo for the remaining three months, addressing human security issues, accelerating implementation of socio-economic projects, ensuring food security, tourism promotion, ensuring security of persons and property, collaboration and team spirit among leaders, staff and stakeholders, efficient use of elected members of Women, Youth, Disability, PSF, promotion of sports and entertainment and proper management of cooperatives.

“His Excellency President of the Republic entrusted you with these responsibilities because he believes in you; he wants you to bring positive changes in your respective provinces. I promise you full support from me and local government family.” Minister said

Minister Gatabazi also requested the new governors to raise morale with local government leaders who are serving extra time on their just ended mandate.
