Umurenge Kagame Cup Tournament – a celebration of good governance in Rwanda – Minister Shyaka
The Minister of Local Government Prof. Shyaka Anastase hailed the citizens for participating in Umurenge Kagame Cup Tournament which was closed on Sunday after final games in Sitball, Basketball, Volleyball, Cycling and Foot racing.
The medal, trophies and other awards were handed over to the male and female winners in all categories of the sports of the tournament. The final games took place in Huye and Gisagara Districts of Southern Province on Sunday, 9 June 2019.
“Umurenge Kagame Cup is not only about playing, competing and winning the games; this tournament is our celebration of good governance of our country, our choice as Rwandans and our President Paul Kagame who is excellent leader always aspiring development for his people.” Minister Shyaka emphasized.
Umurenge Kagame Cup, the annual tournament was initiated across the sectors of Rwanda to promote good governance; for promotion of the talents, mobilization of the citizens for sport and competition; and promotion of good health through sports.
Minister Shyaka warns the teams that tried to cheat during the competition; he suspended the teams for one year as punishment to their misconduct.
