PROF SHYAKA ANASTASE IS THE NEW MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The New Minister Shyaka Anastase

This afternoon, the President of the Republic of Rwanda Kagame officiates at the swearing-in of newly appointed Cabinet Members and other senior government officials. He thanked former members of cabinet for their hard work and new members for accepting the important duty of serving the country.

Prof Anastase Shyaka who was appointed as new minister of Local Government, replaces Minister Kaboneka Francis who has been serving in this position since 2014.

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Local Government, Prof Anastase Shyaka was the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board since 2011. He also served as the Executive Secretary of Rwanda Governance Advisory Council from 2008 to 2011.

Prof Shyaka was Professor of Political Science and Director of Center for Conflict Management at the University of Rwanda. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Residence (2007) at George Mason University. He is also member of the Board of UN Global Center for Public Service Excellence based in Singapore.

Minister Anastase Shyaka holds a PhD in Political Science from University of Gdańsk in Poland, and a Masters in Chemical Technology.
